To Properly Maintain Heavy Truck, Avoid These Three Common Pitfalls
Many people say heavy truck maintenance is difficult, but it actually has a lot to do with common misconceptions in daily use. Here are a few major misconceptions summarized for fellow truckers to avoid in future operation. Misconception 1: Using Higher-Grade Oil Means You Don't Need to Replace the Filter Regularly Some truckers believe that using higher-grade oil keeps it cleaner, so they don't need to replace the oil filter regularly. It's important to note: Lubricants of different grades all undergo quality changes during use. After a certain mileage, engine oil performance degrades, leading to various engine issues. For instance, a clogged filter prevents oil from flowing smoothly through the element. This pressure can rupture the filter or open the bypass valve, allowing contaminated oil to flow back into the engine. This accelerates engine wear and intensifies internal contamination. Therefore, regular oil filter replacement remains equally crucial. Misconception 2: Air Filters Don't Need Frequent Replacement Some truck drivers believe that if the driving environment has low dust levels, the air filter can go a long time without replacement. This is incorrect. The engine's intake system primarily consists of two parts: the air filter and the intake duct. Therefore, depending on usage conditions, the air filter should be cleaned regularly. Generally, after three cleanings, it should be replaced with a new one. The cleaning cycle can be determined by the air quality in the daily driving area. Purchasing high-quality, genuine OEM air filters from reputable manufacturers is also crucial. Misconception 3: Believing dust in the intake duct can be blown out If a vehicle frequently travels on dusty roads with poor air quality, it is essential to clean the intake duct to maintain unobstructed airflow. The intake duct is vital for engine performance. Excessive dirt reduces efficiency, preventing the engine from operating within its normal power output range, thereby accelerating wear and aging. Minimize driving in dusty areas and remember to replace the cabin air filter regularly. To protect your vehicle and prevent damage, avoid these three common misconceptions. This will ensure your car remains reliable for years to come.

Here are some truck maintenance no-nos—have you fallen into any of these traps?
Our truck driver brother spends year after year on the road hauling cargo in his beloved vehicle. Everyone has their own car maintenance tricks, but some so-called “tips” are actually useless—and improper care can even wreck your ride. Here are a few maintenance no-nos you absolutely must remember. 1. Opening the Radiator Cap While the Engine is Hot When adding coolant or other fluids, the engine must be completely shut off. Otherwise, you risk severe burns from splashing coolant or hot steam, which can also damage the vehicle. The correct procedure is to wait until the engine has cooled down, release the pressure, then open the cap while using protective measures like a damp towel. Additionally, ensure the coolant level is between the full and low marks. If it falls below the low mark, add coolant (never water) and ensure the level does not exceed the full mark. If coolant levels drop rapidly over a short period, inspect the cooling system for leaks or visit a repair shop. 2. Frequent Brake Pad Replacement Brake pads are consumables, and novice drivers tend to wear them out faster. However, frequent replacement isn't ideal. Excessive replacement suggests two possible issues: either the pads themselves are substandard, or the driver is operating the brakes improperly. Frequent hard braking causes significant wear on brake pads. Therefore, new drivers should maintain smooth driving habits. When encountering complex road conditions, prepare in advance to minimize the need for sudden braking. This protects both your vehicle and yourself. 3. Adding Oil Without Changing It Engine oil plays a crucial role in the engine, often referred to as its “lifeblood.” Typically, after reaching a certain mileage, the oil degrades and needs to be replaced. But what happens if you add oil before it degrades, even when the vehicle requires maintenance? Adding fresh oil to old oil mixes degraded oil with new oil, reducing the engine's lubrication, friction reduction, and cooling capabilities. Over time, this accelerates engine wear. Therefore, regular oil changes are essential for effective engine maintenance. 4. Excessive Tire Pressure Tire pressure significantly impacts vehicle performance. During maintenance, inspect not only tread wear but also tire pressure—both overinflation and underinflation shorten tire lifespan. Therefore, monitor tire pressure regularly during daily use. The scientifically sound inflation standard should follow the manufacturer's specified pressure. Unless otherwise directed by the manufacturer, no special adjustments are needed for winter or summer. Tire pressure settings primarily consider vehicle factors like curb weight and chassis height. 5. Glove Safety During Maintenance Many drivers wear gloves when servicing vehicles—they prevent dirt and facilitate handling cargo. As temperatures drop, gloves also offer protection against cold and frostbite. However, during vehicle maintenance, be vigilant to avoid gloves getting caught in sharp-edged components like cooling fans or belts, which could cause injury. Therefore, drivers should avoid wearing gloves when handling rotating parts and ensure sleeves and clothing are securely tucked in. Keep these essential vehicle maintenance precautions firmly in mind, fellow drivers.

Car Modification Knowledge Annual Inspection is No Problem
Vehicle modification is a cool and exciting endeavor, yet China's traffic regulations impose strict requirements on car customization. Numerous accidents involving modified vehicles have drawn significant attention to this practice. Below, Shaanxi Delong Auto Service shares insights on how to modify your vehicle to pass annual inspections. 1. Appearance: Changing your car's color is generally permitted, but certain colors are prohibited, such as camouflage, fire department red, emergency response yellow, and law enforcement blue-and-white livery. Remember to complete the change registration at the DMV within ten days to obtain a new vehicle registration certificate. For those who enjoy window tinting, the tinted area must not exceed 30% of the vehicle's body surface. 2. Engine: Do not modify the vehicle's exhaust system, such as converting a single exhaust pipe to dual pipes or enlarging the exhaust diameter. Additionally, if the engine, body, or chassis are accompanied by repair shop documentation and proof of origin, and the replacement parts are of the original model, you may apply for a modification. 3. Interior: Modifications are generally permitted as long as they do not affect driving safety. However, changes affecting vehicle structure or seat count—including seat color—are prohibited. Note: Vehicle structure features registered with the DMV, such as interior layout and seat count, cannot be altered without authorization. 4. Headlights: Modifications like replacing standard bulbs with xenon lights require passing technical inspections for temperature, beam alignment, and color temperature. 5. Fuel type: Converting from gasoline to natural gas or ethanol requires applying for a fuel type change. Some DMVs prohibit such modifications; consult in advance before proceeding.
